The FOAM lives on...

It has now been more than a year since I attended my last FOAM party. In fact, it was the first FOAM-free summer in six years. Despite the initial appeal of it all, the novelty gradually wore off. It is our home-grown FOAM parties I miss most - not only because we worked our asses off to finally make it happen, but because I always enjoyed selecting and mixing the music for those crazy, crazy parties.

There was always something special about a FOAM mix. There was the inevitable combination of the most popular mainstream dance tracks and some major electro bangers, of course, but there was also a good number of fun tracks and 80's/90's reworks that got people dancing and singing along. Some of my favorite FOAM memories involve everyone singing to the electro version of "Summer of '69", and jumping/stomping to Micky Slim's remix of "Jump Around."

FOAM may be dead for now, but the music lives on. When I set out to create my newest mix, I decided to throw together a brand

new 4-hour mix as if I was mixing for another FOAM party. The result is a nice dose of pop, lots of electro, a few really fun throwbacks, & lots and lots of crazy. I'm providing several different download versions - including the entire mix in one file - just in case someone wants to throw a party (or pretend you're at one...). Regardless of what you do with this mix, I hope you enjoy it, and I hope the FOAM still lives in you. :)

Kiss My Revolver

Summer is well underway, and though (IMO) the music has been a bit disappointing so far, there are a few gems out there. This is a pretty decent blend of top 40, hip-house, progressive, and electro. It's actually a bit more on the progressive side than some of my more recent mixes. I feel I may be branching out a bit. :)

Instead of continuing on with the mundane "June 2010 Mix" stuff, I've decided to give my mixes a unique name from now on. Each name will be created using only words found in song titles contained in that mix. Thus, "Kiss My Revolver." The runner up would have been "One Crazy Drug" (although I do enjoy "Beat My Rocket" as well ;) ).

A note on Track 4: I, like most people over the age of 14, believe "Ke$ha" (her spelling, not mine) is almost completely lacking in talent, and pretty much epitomizes all that is wrong with pop music today. That said, I couldn't help but include Dave Aude's remix of "Your Love is My Drug." Somehow, he managed to take an over synthesized piece of garbage and turn it into something really quite beautiful. Props to him!

Well, it's been awhile... (October 2009 Mix)

This the last mix I made before leaving Madison. Unfortun- ately, because of the craziness of the move and even more craziness in trying to find a decent job up here, I haven't gotten a chance to post this until now. It's pretty much mainstream dance music through and through. Although there are some really solid tracks here, you won't find any crazy electrobangers or lesser-known underground tracks. If you enjoy remixes of mainstream pop music, then you'll love this one. If it's the other stuff you come here for, you'll have to wait just a little bit longer. It'll be worth your wait, though, I promise. I'm putting together something REALLY nice for your upcoming Halloween parties. :)
